Gene cloning is a process to produce multiple copies of gene of interest. The steps can be simplified as ICITAS.
(i) I = isolation of gene of interest and DNA cloning vector such as plasmid.
(ii) C = cleave the gene of interest and DNA cloning vector.
(iii) I = insertion of the gene of interest into the DNA cloning vector.
(iv) T & A = transformation of rDNA into the host cell. Amplification of the rDNA.
(v) S = Screening example by using white-blue screening.
